What is a Mastermind?

A Mastermind is a group process focused on professional responsibilities and skills. It is a combination of brainstorming, education, peer support, problem solving and experience exchange.

The objective is that the group members support and challenge each other to accomplish each individual’s goals for  success and improvement in their work. Each participant brings their own challenges to the table. In light of the Mastermind topics, the challenges and their possible solutions are explored.

Who can attend a Mastermind?

Attending a Mastermind is not for all types of people.

Masterminds are different from attending a classic course or training program because they challenge you in being conscious and open about the challenges you have in your role or your business, and receive thoughts, advice and feedback from the other participants.

You must also be willing to share your experiences and feedback with the other participants when they seek advice and understanding regarding their own challenges.

What can you expect?

During the four days we will alternate between looking at quality and risk management related theories, discussing the challenges each participant brings to the table, solve problems, establish concrete plans and networking.

The main objective is that when you leave Alicante, you leave with new ideas and concrete plans to improve the way you perform your role and that your organisation benefit more from your professional contribution.

Is this familiar?

Scenario 1: Ray is chief of quality in a construction firm which mainly does high end construction of private homes in the private market. His company is highly regarded and has clients nation wide. In light of recent events, the company has decided to implement a more risk focused approach. Ray has been appointed the responsibility for this implementation, but he has problems finding the right place to start, and needs someone to discuss pros and cons with before deciding on the implementation approach.

Scenario 2: Lisa is head of risk management in her company. However, she finds it hard to convince the board of directors of the value her insight and methods may add to the overall acheivement of objectives in the company. Her colleagues are highly competent, but she misses someone to throw ball with to solve her challenges in creating leadership commitment for risk management.

Risk based thinking can provide an outstanding approach to achieving your organizations objectives. Quality and risk managers attending our Mastermind program will be able to discuss their current challenges, reflect and get peer support, and thereby support their own organizations in acheiving its overall objectives.

For organizations with ambition and pride of workmanship, managing risk should be an integral part of leadership and strategic management. However, quality and risk managers are traditionally used to handling organizational resistance and thereby have challenges regarding proving real results.
